SOLO ROAST

Solo Roast is a company that’s passionate about making sure everyone has the freshest cup of coffee. They make crafting your favorite customized coffee easy by bringing the coffee shop to you. The brand delivers smaller batches of affordably priced, craft-quality coffee that is roasted on demand by mail, ensuring you always have the freshest beans to brew.

We partnered with the coffee brand to develop the brand strategy and identity system for launch, which was centered around "coffee by you" mailed directly to you. We took inspiration from vintage parcels and recognizable postal branding colors to visually tell their story.

Solo Roast's packaging design is sleek, and memorable and reenforces the brand’s message and operations. Each bag of coffee is evocative of a parcel, and the logo's icon was designed to emphasize a singular "solo" cup of coffee.

The packaging design system was created in a way to allow flexibility for both direct-to-consumer (DTS) sales, as well as to give the brand a core coffee bag with a hand stamping flexible format for its wholesale accounts, which includes regional local coffee shops and retailers.

Flexible Packaging

The coffee bags use postal stamp-like product labels with custom die-cut edges, and we incorporated a stock kraft bag and custom printed flat-bottomed bag. The brand's labeling system allows them to print each roast's label on demand, as customers craft and order their own unique coffee bean creations on the e-commerce website we helped design using an build-your-own coffee tool.

The brand's color palette and art direction for the product photography is also carefully tailored to communicate a minimal, modern, and approachable visual story.
